From the blanket shop, we hit the road. Up & over up &over went the car with the cool people. Putin' on their shades (mostly me I was in the sun). We were driving and suddenly we saw a ski resort with a full blown ski slope (just remember we're in the middle of Africa). Before we left We had stopped at a store and bought 4bags of maize meal (which is like matzo meal so don't leave Sally by her self with it). We drove for hours to see a town called oxbow it was beautiful besides the fact that we never got there. apparently you don't need much to get on a map. So the cool people started to drive down the mountain. Then they saw a group of people that were very poor ( I don't think I mentioned that the country Lesotho was very poor). We took the maize meal and gave them the 4 boxes. They were sooooooo happy!!!!!!!! We started down the mountain and had dinner at Bens favorite place Nandos. Now the cool people are at their hotel at lions rock.
I know all this info about the cool people because I am one of them(:
By-by, adios, shalom and tot sins

Good morning, Miss COOL !!!!!! Even when you are hungry, you are cool!! Well, that may be pushing it a little. You are always way more cool when your tummy has a little food in it. Hmmmmm !!! The breakfast of Kings? I was thinking the "KING OF THE JUNGLE"! What a great image: a lion having tea along with his eggs!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSkiing in the middle of Africa? Really? What is used in place of snow? I'll bet those animals have a great time sliding down the mountains !!!!!!
AND I love that you were giving food to the people of Lesotho. It feels so wonderful to know that you have helped those who need food so badly. It is never enough, but even small gifts are huge for people who are hungry. You COOL people make me so happy!!!!!!!
We hear Max is having a wonderful time at camp. The camp posts photos of the campers each day, and Aunt Hillary goes though the many many photos and sends us the ones of Max. He is always smiling. He even wrote a post card home to his family saying that so far he LOVES camp. He is making new friends and his counselors are really nice. All good stuff ! And, Sarah, I need to tell you again that I LOVE your writing. (I of course love Ben's blogs --- but I expect his learned and accomplished and amusing expressions), but you have surprised me and I can't wait to ready more. (And could you tell me what "tot sins" is ? Even grandmas need to keep learning.) I love you so much! Give my love to Georgia and Sophia and their parents.
Love, Grandma JOANIE
My dearest Sarah . . . I can't believe that this is the first time I have answered you. For some reason (I'm old) I didn't remember that you had your own blog. I had a long sleepless nite thinking about you out there languishing without my words of appreciation, much less my commentary on your adventures.
ReplyDeleteWhen I think of you alone in the Dark Continent I can't help but recall the explorations of Myrtle Shlepper's young cousin, the indomitable and beauteous (ask your mom) Maxine, a/k/a Queenie of The Jungle.
As near as I can tell from the limited cave drawings Maxine and her family parted company while she was still in her formative years. Some say she was abandoned because of numerous "meltdowns". The more likely explanation is that she was captured by a troop of marauding gorillas who liked her feisty attitude and didn't understand her tirades. In any case she soon learned the ways of the wild and became a force in the evolution of primates, as well as the first president of Hadassah.
