Today we started out driving. We drove to a place called hluhluwe (pronounced ;;;;;;;:7--/&;;$,&$8:!: ). Check out your window to make sure that there are no giraffe or rhino well I did and saw something. If you just look out the window in South Africa there is always a new adventure just waiting for you and I am telling you my adventure of the day. The day really started when we got out the car we were in the car because we were driving from place to place. When we got out of the car we had a late lunch. Then we got in the car again and drove to a traditional Zulu village. The village was very cool. It was like how they used to do things. Like little huts, they told us about their religion and they showed us things that they used in the olden days. At the the end they did a traditional dance for us that they usually do at weddings and special occasions. Then we came back and had dinner. Now I am blogging for you right now.
I miss you all so much
Lots of love,
Sarah
P.S: my favorite line of the trip happened a couple of days ago. So Sophie had finished crying and mom had told uncle Steven to tell to Sophie " you have the right to cry I have the right to not listen so go in another room". Sophie started to cry again so uncle Steven said " you have the right to cry I have the right not to listen so get out".
As far as I know it is pronounced 'Shloo-shlooey' and I have heard how wonderful it is there. You are so lucky to have seen all those animals - quite amazing.
ReplyDeleteLast night we went to a wedding at a historical site called Cuneo - north on Milwaukee Av. Lovely wedding and a magnificent setting - incredibly beautiful gardens and an old homestead that you could look around. Nothing like your traditional Zulu village I am sure!!
Have fun with your cousins and tell Uncle Steven to follow instructions!!!
Much love

Darling Sarah . . . Grandma and I just finished a wonderful week-end, even without you. It was our 50th Class Reunion from high school. On Thursday we hosted a dinner party for 8 old friends and we cooked (hard to believe). No one died. Friday nite was a cocktail party in Greek town. We had a private room for 70 "old" friends to start the festvities. And on Saturday nite there was the main party at the East Bank Club. There were about 170 people, although some were husbands and wives of graduates. The party was so much fun . . . a lot of old friends. I was the emcee and after some humorous announcements I told some jokes (less funny). Then I introduced Grandma who sang threes songs, accompanied on the piano by another graduate.
ReplyDeleteShe was great, although she was still getting over larynigits. We didn't leave until almost 1:00 AM.
We'll talk about the Zulus in my next comment.
